abstract A method for production of liquid media which have long lasting broad spectrum biocidal properties and to the liquid media and to their use as biocidal liquids. The liquid is produced using the anode and/or cathode compartment of a membrane electrolyser which uses brine as an electrolyte. When configured correctly the apparatus will produce a long lived highly sporicidal solution. This high grade cold sterilant can be used in medial, veterinary, horticulture and food industries. The solutions produced can remain germicidal for up to two years, and exhibit strong sporicidal activity. When impregnated onto a synthetic paper substrate the liquid media are very effective and powerful sporicidal wipes which can store for more then six months.
