abstract |
A method and an apparatus for separating mixtures of fatty acid esters of lower, monohydric alcohols, in particular of methanol or ethanol, for example rape methyl ester, into two fractions result in one fraction with a higher and one fraction with a lower pour point than that of the fatty acid ester mixture employed. The fractionation takes place by extractive crystallisation by means of an aqueous urea solution. The resulting fraction F1 can be used as substitute diesel fuel for operating diesel engines at temperatures above 0@C and fraction F2 can be used down to temperatures of -25@C. <IMAGE> |
