Novel cyclo-hept (c,d) indole derivs. of general formula (I) - where R1 is H atom or 1-4C alkyl gp. R2 is cyamide, carboxamide- or carboxy- or (1-4C-alkoxy)-carbonyl gp.- are prepd. from 4-iodo-indole-3 carboxaldehyde of general formula (II) - where R1 as before - and an olefinic cpd. of general formula (III), - where R2 is cyamide, carboxamide or (1-4C-alkoxy)-carbonyl gp.- in the presence of a palladium -salt. In the event when cpds. contg. carboxamide or carboxy gps. in place of R2 are reqd., then opt. general formula (I) cpds. contg. cyanide gps. in the R2 position will be subjected to hydrolysis, and when cpds. contg. (1-4C alkoxy)-carbonyl gps. substituting an R2 gp. are reqd., then cpds. (I) contg. carboxy gps. in R2 position are opt. esterified. These novel cyclo-hept (c,d) indole derivs. have valuable pharmacological i.e. antioxidant properties (esp. by having a lipid peroxidation inhibitor effect). |
