titleOfInvention Process and arrangement for removing sulfur dioxide from gas mixture particularly at the purification of industrial flue gases and final gases
abstract According to the proposed method, the gas mixt. is passed through a scrubbing tower where it is contacted with an aq. amine soln. Magnesium oxide is added to the soln. which is then regenerated by the removal of the sulphur containing cpd. Typically, 0.1-50% by wt. of alkanol amine soln. is used in the scrubbing tower. The scrubbing soln. is discharged into a mixing tank. Magnesium oxide is added to this tank, in quantities 0.5-3 times the stoichiometric requirement, based on the sulphur dioxide content. The proposed equipment comprises a scrubbing tower, mixing tank, separator and/or settling tank, and magnesium oxide feed connection
