The present invention relates to compounds of the general formula (I) in which each of R1 and R2 is independently hydrogen or a non-interacting substituent, provided that at least one of R1 or R2 is hydrogen, X is -CH2- or -xylene (X); CH2) nZ is a compound of general formula wherein n is an integer from 1 to 3 and Z is a significant acid salt, which may be, for example, carboxylic salt, -SO3H or -PO (OH) 2. The invention further relates to a process for the preparation of compounds of general formula (I). This is done by reacting a compound of general formula (III) with an alkali amide base, then alkylating the product and hydrolyzing the resulting material. The compounds of the present invention are useful for the inhibition and selective inhibition of sPLA2-mediated fatty acid secretion in hormone-diseased mammals, such as for the treatment and prevention of diseases arising therefrom. ŕ |
