| abstract |
The present invention relates to a process for the recycling of at least one type of vinyl chloride polymer-containing product, wherein: (a) the product is comminuted into medium-sized parts of 1 cm to 50 cm if larger; and (b) contacting the substantially dry product particles with a substantially anhydrous solvent suitable for dissolving the vinyl chloride polymer which forms an azeotrope with water; (c) precipitating the polymer dissolved in the solvent by introducing vapor into the resulting solution, which results in an azeotropic evaporation of the aqueous solvent, thereby leaving essentially a mixture of water and solid polymer particles; (d) recovering the polymer particles.
