titleOfInvention Zoeldoezoen variety of sudan grass, suitable for grazing, feeding and making chopped feed (sorghum bicolor x sorghum sudanense)
abstract This sorghum cultivar named ZOLDOZON (=Green Flood), for green feed; for grazing and for silage, is a production of hybridizing a maternal sorghum line: MONOSTORI EDES (MEA), (=SWEET OF MONOSTOR) and a paternal line selected from Ak-3R third restorer (light-brown, unfamiliar seeds, having suitable purity and stability). Subsequent selection, followed hybridization. Hybrid sorghum has long (72-75cm), medium-broad (6.2-7cm) leaf-blades. It has numerous (3.2-3.6) offshoots. Main-stem height is 180-200 cm and stem diameter: 12-16 mm. The main stem carries a moderate number of leaves (7-8); it has a loosely-constructed pyramidal base panicle, having 32-40 moderately long (22-24cm) lateral branches. The hybrid's seeds are reddish-brown and 1000 air-dry seeds weigh a median (25-28g) wt. Panicles are shed early (after 68-70 days). It is less likely to be prone to bacterial leaf-blight ( Pseudomonas syringae) and fusarium development ( Fusarium monoliforma).
