abstract | The present invention relates to novel benzodiazepine derivatives, pharmaceutical compositions containing them, and to their preparation. More particularly, the present invention provides 1- [2- (substituted) -vinyl] -5H-2,3-benzodiazepine derivatives and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, and pharmaceutical compositions containing them. The compounds of the invention may be represented by formula (I). In the formula A and B, taken together with the methyl group to which they are attached, represent a -C (CH3)? - or -CH (CH3) -NH- bond, the radical is fluorine, trifluoromethyl or cyano, and R1 and R2 together represent 7.8 or 8.9. -methylenedioxy group. The compounds of the invention exhibit outstanding anxiolytic activity, but are also free from the sedative effect of 1,4-benzodiazepine and 2,3-benzodiazepine derivatives of known anxiolytic activity.
