abstract | The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of chlorides of optionally substituted, saturated or unsaturated aliphatic or cycloaliphatic hydrocarbons by reaction of the corresponding mono or poly alcohol with phosgene or sulfinyl chloride, wherein the reaction is carried out in the presence of at least one catalyst selected from (II) hexasubstituted guanidinium halides of the formula (II) and their hydrohalides (II) wherein R 3, R 4, R 5, R 6, R 7 and R 8 are the same or differently substituted, linear or branched C 1 -C 12 alkyl and / or optionally substituted C 5 -C 6 A is chlorine, bromine, HCl 2 or HBr 2; and (2) hexasubstituted guanidine halides and hydrohalides of formula (III) attached to one of their silica-based supports, (III) wherein R4, R5, R6, R7, R8 and A are as defined above, and R '3 is C2-C10 alkylene. The chlorides produced by the process of the present invention can be obtained in good yield and contain only a small amount of by-products, exemplary carbonate or chloroformate. ŕ |
