The present invention relates to a method for boosting the bacterial performance of an L-lysine-producing cormorant by inducing L-aspartic acid β-methyl ester resistance in these bacterial plants. Preferably, azatata strains are isolated that exhibit reduced citrate synthase activity relative to the parent strains.
