abstract |
Hydrazobenzene- or hydrazobenzene extracted by toluene from a reaction mixt. resulting from a reaction between nitrobenzene aq. NaOH, a phase transfer catalyst and Pd activated hydrogen redn.-is isomerised to benzidine-sulphate in a mixt. of toluene and aq. sulphuric acid. - Opt. this cpd. is extracted and benzidine base is liberated with heating in a system of H2O and toluene. Benzidine is crystallised out from the toluene phase by cooling. (-pp) |
