abstract A method for controlling the solid-phase synthesis of biopolymers carried out on a non-solid polymer carrier provides for determining the initial volume of the carrier and subsequently measuring the volume of the carrier together with the substance generated at each phase of the synthesis. The total volume gradient of the carrier together with the substance generated is determined when the gradient reaches zero the next phase of the synthesis is started.
