Neomycin is prepd. by aerobic bottom fermentation of variants or nutrients of a variant (NR-8/51) of streptomyces Fradiae stock (as deposited under NO. MNG 00313 at the National Institute of Public Health) subjected to combined coumarin-ultraviolet radiation, mutagenic treatment and using a nutrient which contains dissolved oxygen at 2-100% of saturation level, a nitrogen source at 0.2-0.5% total nitrogen and of carbohydrates expressed as 6-10% starch, value. Period of fermentation is 120-160 hours; temp. 30-36 deg.C pref. 32-34 deg.C. |
