titleOfInvention | Method for aftertreatment of form-body produced from transparent thermoplastic polymer applicable for biological purpose |
abstract | Post treatment of shaped thermoplastic articles used in biological work (e.g. Petri dishes for cell cultures) is as follows: The article is immersed for 30 mins. in a dil. alkaline bath followed by thorough rinsing and drying. The article is treated by an oxidising acid, i.e. chromic or mixed chromic and phosphoric for 20-60 mins. at 20-60 deg.C. After rinsing with water, the article is treated with a dil. soln. of an alkaline salt e.g. potassium carbonate for a min. of 30 mins. and rinsed to pH 6-7, then dried. - The prepd. article can be further treated by a: high energy particle irradiation (UV Electrons, or O2-ions) or b: by surface coating using a polyaminoacid pref. lysine at 0.01-0.05 wt.% concn. in solvents, followed by irradiation by electrons and removal by washing of unattached polymer. |
