titleOfInvention Process for preparing isochromane derivatives
abstract The proposed method is to be used for the prepn. of a family of isochroman derivs., their stereo-isomers and mixts. A typical cpd. is indicated by the diag. R is fixed or replaceable phenyl gp. 1-3 identical or differing replacements may be used such as halogen, hydroxyl, carboxyl, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy, nitro- or methylene-dioxy. R is also a fixed or replaceable naphthyl, where the replacement is a hydroxy gp. R1 is hydrogen or a 1-4C alkyl. R2 and R3 is a 1-4C alkyl, or R2 and R3 together represent methylene, but only when R is not 3,4-dimethoxyphenyl. The above cpds. are used as intermediates for the prodn. of medically valuable 5H-2,3-benzodiazepine-derivs.
