abstract |
2-Methyl-4-phenyl-8-nitro quinoline is prepd. by a reaction of o -nitro-aniline and phenyl-propenyl-ketone in acid media followed by oxidn. A 10% v/v water/dipolar organic solvent mixt. is used with hydrogen/halogen gas providing the acidity. The obtd. yield is 3 x higher than tha published figure. |
