abstract | FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to the nitrophenyl alcohols of the formula (I): wherein the nitro group in the formula (I) is in the 2 or 4 position, X is hydrogen or halogen, C 1 -C 4 alkyl, C 1-4 alkoxy. - either nitro, R, hydrogen or C 1-4 alkyl, while R 2 is hydrogen or C 1-4 alkyl - Nitrophenyl alkanes of Formula II in Formula II are X, R, and R 2 refers to hydroxymethylation of dimethylformamide with a water content of 0.1 to 1% by weight of the above paraformaldehyde at 40-100%. According to the invention, the reaction is carried out in the presence of 2 to 6 mole% sodium or potassium cyanide catalyst and 5 to 20 mole% paraformaldehyde excess. CH1-OH (I) -1- |
