Process for preparing narasin |
abstract |
A method of producing the antibiotic narasin by cultivating a microorganism of the species Streptomyces or a narasin producing mutant or variant thereof in a culture medium containing assimilable sources of carbohydrate, nitrogen and inorganic salts under submerged aerobic fermentation conditions until substantial amount of narasin is produced This microorganism in the culture medium, which consists in using as a microorganism, the new organism Streptomyces granuloruber NRRL 12389 or a narasin producing mutant or variant thereof. This process gives the desired narasin in a particularly economical and high yield, thus providing a technically very interesting way of producing this valuable antibiotic. |
