abstract Alkylenedioxybenzene derivatives represented by the formula:n wherein n is an integer of 1 to 6; Z is-(CH 2 ) m - where m is an integer of 1 to 3 orn where R 1 is hydrogen or C 1 -C 3 alkyl and R 2 is C 1 -C 3 alkyl; Y is -CH(OH)-,n where R 3 is hydrogen, C 1 -C 3 alkyl or C 1 -C 3 acyl; and R is phenyl which may optionally have one or more substituents selected from halogen, C 1 -C 5 alkyl, C 1 -C 5 alkoxy and trifluoromethyl, or pyridyl, and acid addition salts thereof are prepared and found to be useful as pharmaceutical agents, particularly as hypotensives.
