abstract | FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a novel process for the preparation of 10,1-dihydro-5H-dibenzo [a, d] cyclohepten-5-one of formula (I) by oxidation of isochromane of formula (III) with nitric acid and the resulting isochromanone (II) in the presence of aluminum chloride. by a Friedel-Crafts reaction, where the isochromanone / aluminum chloride molar ratio is 1: (3-5). According to the invention, the oxidation of isochroman is carried out in a continuous operation with 10-40% aqueous nitric acid, and the Friedel-Crafts reaction is carried out by adding the obtained isochromanone to the benzene suspension of aluminum chloride and, if desired, aluminum chloride 10-40%. is replaced by metal aluminum.
