titleOfInvention | Process for the preparation of devices suitable for prolonged liberation of drug or other chemical substance in aqueous liquid medium |
abstract | The invention relates to a method of producing a device for the controlled continuous administration of a chemical to an aqueous environment containing a liquid. The chemical is located in a container with a wall of porous material. With the device to be manufactured a chemical release over a very long period to be made possible. According to the invention, the chemical is entrapped in a reservoir surrounded by a shaped wall formed at least partially of a porous material, the porous material being in contact with at least part of the reservoir and being non-salient in the environment and being intact during the prolonged one Time span remains. The pores of the porous material are impregnated with a hydrogel medium permeable to the average of the chemical and the aqueous fluid so that the device, when placed in the environment, continues to deliver the chemical from the reservoir to the environment at a physiologically effective, controlled rate released through the medium. |
