abstract | The present invention relates to a method for the preparation of plant growth regulators and to the preparation of novel 1-benzoyl-3-thiosemicarbazide derivatives used as active ingredients therein. The agents of the present invention contain from 0.1 to 80% by weight of the new 1-benzoyl-3-thiosemicarbazide derivatives of formula (I), optionally as salts. Wherein R is -COR1 or hydroxymethyl; R 2 is C 1-4 alkyl, nitro, trifluoromethyl or halogen; Ar naphthyl, benzyl, C 1-4 alkylbenzyl or a group of formula (a), m is 0, 1 or 2; R 3 is hydrogen, C 1 -C 4 unsaturated C 1-4 alkyl, C 3-4 alkenyl, C 1-4 hydroxyalkyl, phenyl or benzyl; and R 4 is hydrogen or C 1-4 alkyl.
