titleOfInvention | Process for separating potencial polimer-formers and polimeres from glikols |
abstract | The process concerns the sepn. of potential polymer formers (Ia) and polymers (Ib) from glycols, which have been used for drying moist cracked gas contg. olefins and dienes from thepyrolysis of gaseous or liquid hydrocarbons and are subjected to thermal treatment for the desorption of the absorbed water, by mixing with a paraffinic-naphthenic hydrocarbon (II). All or part of the charged glycol from the gas wash is conc. periodically or continuously until satd. with aromatics, which have limited solubility in the glycol. It is then treated at under 323 K with enough water to displace (I) by selective redn. of the solubility, together with the other hydrocarbons. Finally, it is mixed with (II) to effect a quantitative increase in the sepn. of (I) and accelerate the intended phase sepn. The formation, pptn. and deposition of polymers in the glycol cycle during regeneration is avoided, so that shut-down of the pyrolysis plant and economic losses are eliminated. Typically, the glycol is satd. by adding 3-15 vol. % toluene and/or 8 C aromatics, treated with 5-12 vol.% water and then with 5-40 vol.% (II) in the petrol b.pt. range. |
