| abstract | BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to metal oxide briquettes for the metallothermic reduction of metal oxide to metal or alloy. The briquettes contain a metal oxide powder as well as a briquetting excipient in the form of ammonium metal oxide, calcium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide or aluminum hydroxide mixed with the metal oxide powder.
