titleOfInvention | Metal vapor arc plasma torch and its use in metallurgy, plasma energy pyrolysis and vitrification, and other material transformation processes |
abstract | The essence of the invention is the development of a plasma torch where the arcing gas is the vapor of a (treated) metal. If the arc-forming metal is chosen correctly, the metal (ion) participates in the given technological process and reactions in such a way that it forms a chemical compound with the undesirable component of the material to be processed, but this compound as an emitted material is a commercial product that can be sold to the industry. The process does not require the formation of a separate anode electrode - as a consumable part - because the arcing metal itself is the anode. The cathode is also chosen with a material composition and mechanical design suitable for the plasma chemistry work processes to be performed. The material of the cathode forms neither a compound nor an alloy with the material to be processed, or with its intermediate or final product components. By changing the temperature and/or the flow rate of the cooling medium, the hollow cathode also enables fine control of the reactions. |
