abstract The present invention relates to compounds of formula (I) for their preparation and to pharmaceutical compositions containing HDAC inhibitor activity containing these compounds. Wherein R 1 is hydrogen, C 1-4 alkyl, carboxyl or C 1-4 alkoxycarbonyl; R2, R3, R4 and R5 independently of one another are hydrogen, halogen, C1-4alkyl, trifluoromethyl, hydroxy, C1-4alkoxy, aryloxy, aralkoxy, nitro, amino, C1-4 alkylamino, di (1-4C) alkylamino, piperidino, morpholino, pyrrolidino, C1-4alkanoylamino, aryl or heteroaryl; or R 2 and R 3 together, or R 3 and R 4 together, or R 4 and R 5 together form a C 1-3 alkylenedioxy group; or R 2 and R 3 together, or R 3 and R 4 together, or R 4 and R 5 together form a C 3-5 alkylene chain; Y is -CH2-CH2-; X is a straight or branched chain or C3-7 cycloalkyl-terminated alkylene group having 4 to 10 carbon atoms, saturated unsaturated, in the latter case one or two double bonds or one or two triple bonds or one double bond and one triple bond.
