An arrangement according to the invention for controlling microbial content or growth in a fluid, comprising a) a microporous zeolite having affinity for the micropores of the azeolite and having antiseptic properties, and b) an afluid, wherein the zeolite and fluid are partially enclosed so as to be encapsulated. The fluid contains molecules that are larger than the micropores of the neolith and, by definition, have a lower affinity for the zeolite than the disinfectant. The fluid may contain a therapeutically active compound or composition in a therapeutically effective amount or concentration, and the total amount of disinfectant in the zeolite is greater than the amount corresponding to the antiseptic level in the fluid. The invention also relates to methods, applications and zeolites for controlling microbial content or growth in a single fluid. SHE |
