abstract The present invention relates to novel compounds of formula (I) and to their use as glycine transport inhibitors. In formula I, R1 is hydrogen or alkyl, cycloalkyl or cycloalkylalkyl; R2 and R3 independently represent hydrogen or halogen, or alkyl, cycloalkyl or cycloalkylalkyl, or R2 and R3 form a cycloalkyl group; R4, R5, R6 and R7 are independently hydrogen or halogen, or trifluoromethyl, nitro, cyano, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, hydroxy or thiol or -NR14R15; (in which R14 and R15 are independently hydrogen or alkyl), -COR16 (in which R16 is hydroxy, alkyl, alkoxy or -NR17R18, and R17 and R18 are independently hydrogen or alkyl); or aryl or heteroaryl, wherein the latter two are substituted in the grouped case; or R 4 and R 5 or R 5 and R 6 or R 6 and R 7 together are fused, aromatic, saturated or partially saturated ring, optionally containing one or more heteroatoms such as oxygen, nitrogen or sulfur; R8, R9, R10, R11 and R12 independently of one another are hydrogen or halogen atoms of trifluoromethyl, trifluoromethoxy, cyano, nitro, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, hydroxylthiol or -NR19R20. (wherein R19 and R20 are independently hydrogen or alkyl); or R 8, R 9, R 10, R 11 and R 12 are independently -COR 21 (wherein R 21 is hydroxy, alkoxy or -NR 22 R 23, and R 22 and R 23 are independently hydrogen or alkyl); or R8, R9, R10, R11 and R12 are independently aryl or heteroaryl, where these aryl and heteroaryl groups are optionally substituted; or R8 and R9 or R9 and R10 or R10 and R11 or R11 and R12 are fused, aromatic, saturated or partially saturated ring, optionally containing one or more heteroatoms such as oxygen, nitrogen or sulfur; Y is oxygen or sulfur or methylene or methyl, and when Y is a methine group, the dotted line represents a double bond; n is 2,3, 4, 5 or 6; Q is C, S = O or P-OR 29 and R29 is hydrogen or alkyl; X is OR13 or NR27R28 and in these groups R13, R27 and R28 are each independently hydrogen, alkyl, or hydrogen;
