Field of the Invention The present invention relates to indolyl derivatives substituted with methylene groups 4, 5, 6 or 7, and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts. In general formula (I), R is aryl or heteroaryl, which may be substituted once or more; X is nitrogen, sulfur or methine, with the proviso that when haX is carbon, the dotted line is a chemical bond, and when X is nitrogen or methine, the dotted line does not represent a chemical bond; R 1 is hydrogen or alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, aryl, arylalkyl, acyl, thioacyl, alkylsulfonyl, trifluoromethylsulfonyl or arylsulfonyl; and R2 and R3 are each independently hydrogen or halogen or cyano, nitro, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, hydroxy, hydroxyalkyl, trifluoromethyl, trifluoromethylsulfonyl, alkylsulfonyl - amino, alkylamino, dialkylamino, acyl or aminocarbonyl. The compounds of the invention are selective dopamine D4 ligands. The invention also encompasses pharmaceutical compositions comprising the compounds. HE |
