abstract The present invention relates to recombinant adenoviruses, and more particularly to recombinant adenoviruses having an altered major late promoter (MLP). The recombinant adenoviruses of the invention have a deficient genome in the E1 region and carry a mutation in MLP. The invention also relates to cell lines suitable for the propagation of adenoviruses according to the invention. The present invention provides an opportunity to develop new, efficient molecular biological vectors that can be advantageously used to study, for example, gene expression and regulation in a different genetic environment.
