The present invention relates to improved infant formulas which reduce constipation, abdominal discomfort and agro-intestinal problems. The formula contains at least one protein component with a phosphorus content of less than 0.75 gP / 100 g protein and at least one lipid component that is easily digestible by the infant. Preferably, the nutritional composition further comprises at least one prebiotic component and at least one viscosity enhancing component. Preferably, the protein component of the formula is a hydrolyzate obtained by hydrolyzing a protein starting material, in particular a whey protein starting material, by combining at least one endo and at least one exoproteinase. The invention further relates to a process for the preparation of the above hydrolyzate and to the use of the protein hydrolyzate and the protein hydrolyzate in the preparation of infant formulas.
