abstract | The invention is based on the discovery that the compounds of formula (1) are unexpectedly potent and selective inhibitors of the adenosine A1 receptor. Adenosine A1 antagonists can be used to prevent and / or treat various diseases, including cardiovascular disorders, degenerative disorders of the central nervous system, respiratory disorders and a number of diseases for which diuretic therapy is indicated. One aspect of the invention is a compound of formula (1). The invention also relates to the preparation and use of the compounds.
