abstract The present invention relates to a fast disintegrating tablet suitable for administration without water, wherein the tablet contains at least one active ingredient and a mixture of excipients, characterized in that the excipients provide the desired properties and physical properties and, when the tablet is sintered, excellent tablet cohesive properties. The invention further relates to a process for the preparation of rapidly disintegrating tablets for administration with or without water, characterized in that - at least one carbohydrate and at least one structural protein or polymer is dissolved in a suitable solvent, wherein the solvent provides high porosity during drying; - at least one binder polymer and active ingredient is dry blended with the obtained matrix or bead, or at least one active ingredient is added to the solvent or the dissolved mixture, or the binder polymer is added to the carbohydrate and / or structural polymer or protein and / or solvent; - the resulting pre-tablet formulation is compressed into tablets; and the tablet is sintered to allow the binder polymer to change or soften and then allow the polymer to re-solidify.
