The present invention relates to compounds of the general formula wherein R1 and R2 are hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, aralkyl, heteroaryl, heteroarylalkyl or cycloheteroalkyl; R3 and R4 are hydrogen or halogen or various substituted groups; X is a bond or a linear or ring linker; Z is a carboxy or tetrazolyl group and a group represented by the general formula which represents various substituted heterocyclic groups and their use in the treatment of various diseases, in particular type II diabetes and related diseases.
