FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a method of administering an emergency contraceptive, to the use of a composition for that purpose, to a preparation of levonorgestrel for such purpose, and to a method for the preparation of such a composition. For emergency contraception according to the invention, the levonorgestrel active ingredient is administered within a single dosage unit containing 1.5 <0.2 mg of levonorgestrel active ingredient within 72 hours of acoustic injury. The compositions according to the invention contain, per unit dosage form, only 1.5 <0.2 mg of levonorgestrel as active ingredient in excipients, fillers, diluents, flavors, stabilizers and formulation aids which are conventional in the preparation of pharmaceutical compositions.
