titleOfInvention | A method for preparing epoxide intermediates for prostaglandins |
abstract | The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of novel epoxide intermediates of formula (I) for the preparation of 13,14-dihydro-prostaglandin derivatives A, E and F, wherein R is alkyl, carbocyclic aliphatic, heterocyclic aliphatic, aromatic or heteroaromatic; R 'is hydrogen, alkyl, carbocyclic aliphatic, heterocyclicaliphatic, aromatic or heteroaromatic, with the proviso that only one heteroatom is attached to 15-C; and Q is a suitable protecting group. New methyl (7-2-hydroxy-5- [2- (2-oxiranyl) ethyl] from commercially available methyl 7- (3- (R) -hydroxy-5-oxo-1-cyclopentylheptanoate) -4- (1,1,2,2-tetramethyl-1-silapropoxy) -cyclopentyl) -heptanoate can be readily coupled to O-, S- and N-containing nucleophiles in the presence of base or Lewis acid, and the products can be easily ring-opened compared to known lengthy processes 13,14-dihydroprostaglandin derivatives A, E and F can be prepared |
