titleOfInvention Substituted benzo [1,4] dioxanes, a process for their preparation and pharmaceutical compositions containing them
abstract The present invention relates to novel substituted 1,4-benzodioxane compounds of formula II having anti-diabetic, antihyperglycemic and anti-obesity properties, wherein R1 and R6 are independently hydrogen, alkyl, trifluoromethyl, cyano, alkoxy or halogen; R2 is hydrogen or trytalkylsilyl; R3 is hydrogen or alkoxycarbonyl; or R2 and R3 together form an oxazolidinone ring of formula (III); R4 and R5 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and alkyl; R7 and R8 are independently OR9 or NR10R11; R 9 is hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, silylalkyl, phenyl, naphthyl, phenylalkyl or alkoxyalkyl, pyridyl, thiophenyl, furanyl, imidazolyl, oxazolyl or -CHR 12 COOR 13, -CHR12C (O) R13, -CHR12CONR10R11, -CHR12OCOOR13, or-CHR12OC (O) R13; R10 and R11 are each independently hydrogen, alkyl, phenyl, naphthyl, phenylalkyl, furanylalkyl or alkoxycarbonite alkyl; R12 and R13 are each independently hydrogen, alkyl, phenyl, naphthyl or phenylalkyl; pharmaceutically acceptable salts, enantiomers, racemic mixtures, diastereomeric mixtures and salts thereof. The invention further relates to pharmaceutical compositions containing the above compounds and to a process for the preparation thereof. HE
