abstract The present invention relates to petroleum benzamides of general formula (I) - of which R1 is a phenyl or naphthyl tube, more particularly a 6-10 membered heterocyclic tube having one or two heteroatoms, each of which may also have 1-3 substituents; R2 is chloro, bromo or fluoro, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkylphenyl, alkenylphenyl, alkynylphenyl, phenyl, alkylcarbonylamino, benzoylamino or naphthylcarbonylamino, carboxy, alkoxycarbonyl, alkoxy, nitro, or amino pipettes; R3 lower alkyl substituted with phenyl, 3-7 membered cycloalkyl, indoleyl, pyridyl or naphthyl; R4 is an alkoxy or N-disubstituted amino tube moiety, more particularly a saturated 5-6 membered heterocyclic tube containing one or two heteroatoms; X is a chemical bond, further comprising alkylene dipsticks containing vinylene, ethynylene, alkylene or high power; n is 0, 1 or 2; and m and 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4 represent a process for their preparation and use as calpain inhibitors. ŕ
