titleOfInvention | Method of producing crystalline anhydrous 4,1',6'-trichlor-4,1',6'-trideoxygalactosaccharose |
abstract | Crystalline 4,1',6'-trichloro-4,1',6'- trideoxy-galacto-sucrose exists as the orthorhombic anhydrous form and as the pentahydrate, both of which are more stable then amorphous TGS. Crystals are obtained from seeded aqueous solutions, above 38 DEG C for the anhydrate; below 38 DEG C for the pentahydrate. The title galactosucrose was prepd. Thus, 10% 4,1', 6'-trichloro-4,1', 6'-trideoxygalactosucrose (TGS) was treated with Amberlite IRA 35 and IRC 72 resins (50:50 mixt.) for 1hr. with stirring, filtered, and concentrated to give TGS. Then, the resins were eluted four times with 500mL methanol and the resulting methanol soln. was concentrated to give 55g TGS. Small amounts of the resulting TGS was added to a satd. TGS soln. at PRG 30!<=C and cooled to give crystalline TGS5H2O. |
