titleOfInvention Reactive azo dyestuffs
abstract The invention comprises reactive azo dyes of formula F-X-R, wherein F is the radical of a mono- or dis-azo dye containing at least one phenyl-methane-sulphonic acid group, X is an -NY-bridge member, Y being a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical and R is a reactive group (i.e. a group which can form covalent bonds with the hydroxyl groups of cellulose materials under alkaline conditions). The dyes may be prepared by forming an azo dye containing a phenylmethane-sulphonic acid group and an acylatable amino group by the usual coupling reaction from appropriate components and treating the aminoazo dye with acylating agents such as cyanuric chloride, 2,3-dichloroquinoxaline-6-carboxylic acid chloride, tri- and tetra - chloro - pyrimidines, 2 - chloropropionyl chloride, 2,3 - dichloroquinoxaline-6-sulpho-chloride and 2,4 - dichloro - 6 - (21,51 - disulphophenylamino - 1,3,5 - triazine. The dyes may also be metallized, e.g. with copper-, cobalt-, nickel- or chromium-yielding agents before acylation. The dyes may be used to colour wool, silk, synthetic polyamide and polyurethane fibres and preferably cellulose fibres by the usual reactive dye processes. In examples the preparation of mono- and dis-azo dyes and copper complexes thereof is described.
