titleOfInvention | New steroidthiazole compounds and process for the production thereof |
abstract | The invention comprises steroid-thiazoles of the general formula <FORM:0996704/C2/1> wherein R1 represents two hydrogen atoms or an oxygen atom, R2 represents a hydrogen atom or a hydroxy radical, R3 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical, and R4 represents an alkyl, cycloalkyl or phenyl radical or a phenyl radical substituted by one or more alkoxy, halogen or alkyl substituents, and the preparation thereof by reacting steroid compounds of the general formula <FORM:0996704/C2/2> wherein X represents a halogen or -OSO2CH3 and R1 and R2 have the above significance, with a substituted thiourea of the general formula <FORM:0996704/C2/3> wherein R3 and R4 have the above significance. The invention also includes a process for reducing steroid-thiazoles of the first general formula above wherein R1 represents two hydrogen atoms with an alkali metal complex hydride to form steroid-thiazoles of the general formula <FORM:0996704/C2/4> wherein R3 and R4 have the above significance' and a process for the preparation of steroids of the general formula <FORM:0996704/C2/5> wherein Z represents an oxygen atom or <FORM:0996704/C2/6> , R4 has the above significance and R5 represents a hydrogen atom or -COCH2CH2COOH, but when Z is an oxygen atom R5 always represents -COCH2CH2COOH, by reacting steroids of the general formula <FORM:0996704/C2/7> wherein Y represents an oxygen atom or <FORM:0996704/C2/8> and R4 has the above significance. |
