titleOfInvention Improvements in or relating to polyester based hair sprays
abstract A composition suitable for use as a hairspray comprises a polyester having a melting point above 40 DEG C. which is the esterification product of a phthalic acid or anhydride and at least one dihydric alcohol, and a propellant and/or a perfume. The preferred polyesters are the reaction products of a phthalic acid or anhydride, a dihydric alcohol and an at least trihydric alcohol. The propellant may be a fluorocarbon, a chlorofluorocarbon and/or a hydrocarbon. The perfume used in the examples is a mixture of bergamot oil, linalyl acetate, geraniol, methyl ionone, essential lavender oil and ambretta musk. Optional ingredients exemplified are methylene dichloride, isopropanol, triethyl citrate, isopropyl myristate, lanoline, lanoline refinery product, paraffin oil, 2-acetyl-1,2,3-tributyl citrate and dimethylphthalate.ALSO:A composition suitable for use as a hairspray comprises a polyester having a melting point above 40 DEG C. which is the esterification product of a phthalic acid or anhydride and at least one dihydric alcohol, and a propellant and/or a perfume. The preferred polyesters are the reaction products of a phthalic acid or anhydride, a dihydric alcohol and a polyhydric alcohol. Propellants specified are chlorofluoromethanes, octafluorocyclobutane and mixtures of octafluorocyclobutane and isobutane, and monofluorotrichloromethane and difluorodichloromethane. The perfume exemplified is a mixture of bergamot oil, linalyl acetate, geraniol, methyl ionone, essential lavender oil and ambretta musk.
