abstract | An aerosol dispersing agent in which the active ingredients of an aerosol can be dispersed comprises a propellant and a solution of lecithin and/or lanolin and/or cholesterol and/or a derivative of lanolin or cholesterol in an ester of an aliphatic acid, the acid radical of which contains 8 to 18 carbon atoms and the alcohol residue of which contains 2 to 8 carbon atoms. The preferred ester is isopropyl myristate; others include ethyl palmitate, ethyl laurate, n-amyl stearate and ethyl caprylate. Other organic solvents may be present. Hydrogenated lanolins, polyoxyethylene derivatives of lanolin and aliphatic acid esters of cholesterol are the specified derivatives. The propellant is an alkane containing 3, 4 or 5 carbon atoms, an alkyl chloride containing 1, 2 or 3 carbon atoms or a fluoro-chloro-alkane containing 1, 2 or 3 carbon atoms. The preparation may be a cosmetic or medicine e.g. containing antibiotics or steroids. |
