titleOfInvention | New sulphoxides |
abstract | The invention comprises ribonucleosides containing in the 51-position a sulphoxide residue R-SO-, in which R is an unsaturated or saturated alkyl radical or an aralkyl or cycloalkyl radical and the preparation thereof by reacting a 51-desoxy-51-R-thio-ether of a ribonucleoside with an appropriate oxidizing agent for the conversion of a sulphur atom of a thio-ether group into a sulphoxide residue or by reacting a 51-desoxy-51-R-thio-ether of D-ribose or D-desoxyribose with an agent for converting the sulphide into its sulphoxide and reacting the sulphoxide so obtained with an appropriate purine or pyrimidine. Allyl-(adenosyl-51)-sulphide is prepared by reacting allyl mercaptan with 51-desoxy-51-tosyl-21,31-isopropylidene adenosine to give 51-desoxy-51-allylthio-21,31-isopropyliden adenosine and hydrolysing the ketal. Similarly are prepared propyl-iso-propyl- and benzyl-(adenosyl-5)-sulphides. |
