The invention comprises: (1) a process for the manufacture of compounds of general formula <FORM:0986875/C2/1> wherein A1 is an alkylidene radical containing more than two carbon atoms, hal is a halogen atom and X is a sulphur atom or the ethylene or ethenylene group, and corresponding compounds substituted by one or more alkyl and halogen substituents in the side ring(s), which process comprises treating a corresponding compound of formula <FORM:0986875/C2/2> (where A is an alkylene radical containing more than two carbon atoms and OR is an alkoxy group) with a halogenating agent; (2) a process for converting the products of Formula I into corresponding compounds in which the halogen atom is replaced by a disubstituted-amino group by reaction with secondary amines, and, if desired, forming acid addition salts; and (3) those compounds of Formula I wherein X is ethylene or ethenylene. Separation of stereo-isomers is described. Pharmaceutical compositions are mentioned which contain the disubstituted-amino alkylidene products with carriers. Tablets, dragees, capsules, suppositories, solutions, suspensions and emulsions are referred to. The compounds have narcosis potentiation, adrenolytic, antihistaminic, antiemetic, antipyretic, local anaesthetic and hypothermic activity. Specifications 829,763, 842,804, 858,187, 896,036 and 932,494 also are referred to. |
