titleOfInvention 1,2-dimethylhexahydropyridazine compounds
abstract The invention comprises compounds of formulae <FORM:0984906/C2/1> wherein X is hydrogen or an alkyl group containing from 1 to 6 carbon atoms or a physiologically acceptable alkylhalide addition salt thereof, and the preparation thereof by reducing the corresponding di-N-carbalkoxy compound with lithium aluminium hydride in the presence of an inert solvent, and optionally converting the product of the above general formula into an alkyl halide addition salt. Diethyl 4 - isohexyl - 1,2 - hexahydropyrid-azinedicarboxylate is prepared by Diels-Alder reaction between myrcene and diethylazodicarboxylate followed by catalytic reduction. Therapeutic compositions having hypotensive and ganglionic blocking activity containing 1,2-dimethylhexahydropyridazine compounds of the above general formulae or physiologically acceptable alkyl halide addition salts thereof and an acceptable pharmaceutical carrier and which may be in the form of tablets, capsules, suspensions or solids.
