titleOfInvention Hydrazone derivatives
abstract The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:0984704/C2/1> and their pharmaceutically acceptable non-toxic acid addition (including ascorbic acid) and quaternary ammonium salts wherein X is a hydrogen or a halogen atom or a methyl, methoxy or trifluoromethyl radical; X1 is a hydrogen or halogen atom; m is 0 or 1; n is 1 or 2; R is a phenyl, tolyl, halophenyl, hydroxyphenyl, alkanoyloxyphenyl, mono-, di- or tri - methoxyphenyl, methylenedioxyphenyl, diethylaminoethoxyphenyl, alkanamidophenyl, dialkylaminophenyl, nitrophenyl, cyanophenyl, carboxyphenyl, naphthyl, anthryl, phenethyl, styryl, benzyl, alkyl, cyclohexyl, cyclohexenyl, benzhydryl, pyridyl, methylpyridyl, indolyl quinolyl, thienyl, furyl, nitrofuryl, dihydropyranyl, or dimethylphenylpyrrolyl, radical R1 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl or phenyl radical or R and R1 are combined so that the radical = CRR1 is a cyclohexylidene, 4-methyl-4-azacyclohexylidene or fluorenylidene radical. The compounds may be prepared by reacting a compound of the general formula <FORM:0984704/C2/2> with a compound RR1C = Z wherein C = Z is a carbonyl radical or a radical equivalent thereto for reaction with a hydrazine to form a hydrazone thereof. The 1 - diphenylalkyl - 4 - amino - piperazines and - homopiperazines used as starting materials are prepared by reacting a diphenyl alkyl halide with nitrosopiperazine or nitrosohomopiperazine or with piperazine or homopiperazine with subsequent nitrosation to give a 1 - diphenylalkyl - 4 - nitroso - piperazine or - homopiperazine and reducing the nitroso group.
