titleOfInvention Improvements in or relating to barium titanate
abstract Barium titanate of high purity is prepared by calcining barium titanium citrate (see Division C2). Calcination at 800 DEG C. produces a fibrous product and at above 1340 DEG C. a dense ceramic of high dielectric constant is obtained. Impure barium titanate may be dissolved in a mineral acid, e.g. HCl, the insoluble impurities removed, barium titanium citrate obtained from the solution washed and dried and calcined to purified barium titanate. Specification 691,257 is referred to.ALSO:The invention comprises barium titanium citrate prepared by dissolving barium titanate in a mineral acid, removing the insoluble impurities and adding citric acid or alternatively by admixing a titanium citrate solution and an inorganic barium salt solution. The precipitated barium titanium citrate is separated and recrystallized from water. The product may be ignited at 900 DEG C. to prepare a pure barium titanate or fabricated directly and fired to a ceramic of high dielectric constant. Specification 691,257 is referred to.
