abstract 983,072. Laminates. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. Sept. 11, 1961 [Oct. 5, 1960], No. 34080/60. Heading B5N. Textile cords, e.g. of nylon or rayon, for incorporation in rubber articles such as tyres or belting, are batched up in sheets of parallel cords with removable locating means comprising a thin sheet of longitudinally corrugated material the corrugations of which extend between the cords. The corrugated sheet may comprise paper or cardboard incorporating parallel strings or wires, or plastic material the corrugations in which may be formed, if necessary accompanied by warming the sheet, by the cords themselves during winding up. When required for use the cords are unwound, the corrugated sheet removed, and the cords tensioned and coated, e.g. with rubber latex or a latex/resorcinol-formaldehyde composition. The corrugated sheet holds the cords in correct spacing and avoids the need for the use of light wefts for this purpose.
