titleOfInvention | Amides of 2-acetoxy 3,5-diisopropylbenzoic acid and the preparation thereof |
abstract | The invention comprises 2-acetoxy-3 : 5-diisopropylbenzamide of which the amidic hydrogen atoms may be substituted by alkyl or aryl groups or by groups capable of forming with the nitrogen a morpholine or piperidine ring. The compounds are prepared by reacting 2-acetoxy - 3 : 5 - diisopropylbenzoyl chloride (obtained from the acid with thionyl chloride) with ammonia or the appropriate amine. Compounds specified in the examples are the unsubstituted benzamide, the diethylbenzamide and the p-ethoxyphenylbenzamide. The benzamide is stated to have analgesic, antithermic and antiheumatic properties and is administered as tablets or suppositories. |
